Get excited for the 3rd Annual PTO Auction: Hula for the Moolah on February 25th, 7:30pm-10:30pm at Glow Salon! Catering by Relysh Catering, live music by Doug Segree and donations from all of your favorite local businesses. The auction will have a Chocolate Cook-Off, a restaurant gift card dart board game (everyone’s a winner!) and more!

Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration!
Pre-Kindergarten Application and Registration begins February 7, 2012. Registration will be every day between 9:30 – 11:30 AM and 1:30 – 3:00 PM.
Required: 1. Two Proofs of residency: a) Lease/Mortgage b) Utility bill
2. Original Birth Certificate
3. Current shot record

January 18th, 5-8pm: RKE Restaurant Night at Chick-fil-a at the Westfield Annapolis Mall. Great opportunity to grab a bit to eat, benefit the RKE PTO and return those last few gifts!
January 26th, 6pm: Science Night, featuring the students’ science fair projects and Reptile World!
February 25th: PTO Auction – Hula for the Moolah! The 3rd Annual Auction will be held at Glow Salon, featuring the music of Doug Segree and food catered by Relysh. Stay tuned for more information about this fun night out to support our school!

1st Annual Welcome Back to School Party!
Please join us on Sunday, August 21st from 9:30am-11:30am at the RKE playground for some games, snacks, and most importantly getting to meet other new Kindergarten students and parents!
We welcome back our first graders to meet up with old friends and let the new Kindergarten’s know what a fun place RKE is to attend!

Feasibility Update
On May 24, 2011, the County Council approved the county’s Fiscal Year 2012 budget. Funding for a feasibility study/design plan for RKE was included within the Board of Education’s FY 2012 capital budget. A feasibility study committee will meet over the summer months and determine which of five options they will recommend to the superintendent to improve RKE’s physical plant. These five options are:
1. Do nothing
2. Patch and paint
3. Lightly renovate
4. Modernization
5. Replacement school
Once the superintendent receives the committee’s recommendation, he can either accept that recommendation or choose a different option to present to the Board of Education for their approval. The Board of Education can then accept the superintendent’s recommended proposal or approve a different option. Currently, RKE is not scheduled to receive construction funding until FY 2014.
As the feasibility study process proceeds, updates will provided.

3rd Annual Rocket Run 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run – April 9th, 8am
Please join us Saturday, April 9 at 8 AM for the 3rd Annual Rocket Run. There will be prizes for different age groups and the class with the most participants will win a special surprise! Registration forms were sent home (click here to download), so fill them out and send them in ASAP to guarantee a t-shirt! We are still looking for sponsors and volunteers for the race day. Science Fair – March 30th, 6-7:30pm
Wednesday, March 30th, RKE is hosting its annual Science Fair. Participation is mandatory for all 5th graders and voluntary for 3rd and 4th graders. The projects are open for public viewing after the conclusion of judging from 6pm to 7:30pm.
With over 60 projects to judge we could use an additional 5-10 judges. Judging will run from 3pm until 6 pm this Wednesday. It would be greatly appreciated if you could volunteer 30 minutes of your time to judge 3-5 projects! Please email Mike Hiesener at mhiesener@gmail.com if you are able to help out.
